Roberta Lee on redefining value

Updated 2026

When I first started talking about sustainable fashion, much of the conversation centred on buying less. Whilst that message still matters, I think the more interesting conversation today is about recognising value. Value isn't determined by a price tag. It's created through the relationship we build with the things we own. The clothes we wear repeatedly, repair, care for and genuinely enjoy become far more valuable than those bought impulsively and forgotten weeks later.

Luxury has become deeply personal. We all define it differently according to our experiences, priorities and lifestyles. For me, luxury is having the confidence and discernment to choose well, buy intentionally and build a wardrobe that reflects who you are rather than what you're being persuaded to become. Style isn't about clothes. It's about understanding what truly deserves a place in your life.
