During the first wave of the lockdown due to COVID-19 I have been able to test out some of London Organic Beauty products – and what a treat they’ve been! Especially with all the extra hand washing and all that sanitisation gel, my gifted products have been very much appreciated.
Today I want to share with you my experience of this cruelty-free, organic skincare range that has been helping me get through COVID-19 with beautifully soft skin – as well as helping to lift my mood due to the essential oils used.
In every post I do about beauty reviews, I always say that I am no expert when it comes to my skin. I am notoriously slow at using up products as I’m not a skincare junkie. I keep things simple – so reviews can often take me months upon months to write.
I feel that now I have had a suitable amount of time to say if I think these products have worked for me or not. I can also vouch for how long-lasting they are – when used sparingly, a little goes a long way.
LONDON ORGANIC BEAUTY SKINCARE REVIEW
Before I tell you which London Organic Beauty products were my favourite, and an absolutely perfect match for me and my skin, I will introduce each product I tested below.
Organic Lemongrass & May Chang Hand Lotion by London Organic Beauty
This mood lifting hand cream is a real treat for your hands and has been a key staple to my COVID-19 prep routine. The Lemongrass & May Chang hand Lotion retails at £25 for 50ml (and lasts for ages).
This is what it says on the website “Easily absorbed and leaves hands soft and supple with a beautiful, refreshing, lemongrass scent. This thick creamy blend of organic Shea butter and safflower, sunflower and olive oils hydrate, nourish and protect hands from the environment and day to day work.
Organic Olive oil, a central ingredient in this product has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It protects against the elements and helps skin retain its moisture. Organic Safflower oil has the highest content of linoleic acid of any other plant oil. Linoleic acid is needed by the skin’s natural barrier which stops water loss and therefore avoids dry, scaly skin.
Suitable for dry skin and winter protection. This product is 100% Natural and uses Pure Botanical Actives. The fragrance of the product is made only from pure plant essential oils. ” London Organic Beauty Website
This is what I thought:
The smell of this product is what I liked the most, it refreshes your senses whilst leaving hands feeling nourished but not too greasy. It also massages nicely into the cuticles.

Would I recommend?
Yes. Hand cream is something I fnd myself using daily and as I get older it seems I need it more. Add in all the extra hand-washing during COVID-19 and I use more hand cream than usual. This is a great gift for your own hands – but also would make such a lovely treat for a loved one.
Have I seen a noticeable difference?
Yes. My hands have not noticeably aged during COVID-19 with all the extra hand washing and use of hand santisation gel. I use only London Organic Beauty products on my hands at the moment – and they are not looking too bad at all!
Coconut & Vanilla Bean Hand Lotion by London Organic Beauty
I tend to use this one later in the day as the natural oils release a beautiful relaxing scent, great when I am winding down after a long day and having washed my hands about twenty times! The Coconut & Vanilla Bean Hand Lotion retails at £25 for 50ml (and lasts for ages).
This is what it says on the website “Easily absorbed by the skin. Our blend of organic coconut butter, safflower, apricot kernel, and jojoba oil is easily absorbed and leaves hands hydrated, protected and supple. A great way to protect your hands from repeated hand-washing.
Coconut Butter has a wonderful sweet smell and is soothing to even sensitive skin. Its properties smooth and nourish even the roughest skin.

This is what I thought:
Our sense of smell is so important and getting the right smelling products onto our skin at the right time of day is important to help with a state change whilst so many of us are housebound during COVID-19. I really so love the Coconut & Vanilla scent at the end of a long day.
As mentioned before, I love the packaging and whilst I am at home at lot more I am paying attention to what oils, scents and candles I burn at different times of the day.
Ingredients:
Aqua; Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera)*; Sodium stearoyl lactylate; Simmondsia chinensis (jojobo oil)*; Prunus armeniaca (apricot kernel)*; Olea europea (olive oil)**; Carthamus tinctorius (safflower oil)*; Cocos nucifera (coconut butter)*; Glyceryl stearate; Glycerine*; Cetyl alcohol; Parfum*; Benzyl alcohol; Tocopherol acetate (vitamin e); Vanilla planifolia (vanilla)*; Salicylic acid; Xanthan gum; Sorbic acid.
* Certified organic ingredients.
** Certified organic and fair trade ingredients.
Would I recommend?
Yes.
Have I seen a noticeable difference?
Yes. Using 2 different scents for morning/afternoon and this one in the evening has helped me keep my hard working hands supple and hopefully fights the signs of ageing!
Aloe Vera & Acai Gel by London Organic Beauty
This little beauty has really helped me with those hormonal, alcohol and stress induced pimples! The Aloe Vera & Acai Gel retails at £25 for 50ml (and lasts for ages).
This is what it says on the website “This Aloe Vera & Acai Gel is designed to be used on problem areas on the skin, including to treat blemishes, spots, cuts, bruises, and rashes.
Aloe vera: is renowned for having strong antibacterial and antifungal properties and is a well known healing and soothing agent. It is used for burns, skin irritations and raw open wounds.
Acai berry oil: has been used for centuries by tribal communities in South America for its healing and nutritional properties. Packed with vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids such as omega 3, 6 and 9, the acai berry boasts a higher unit value of antioxidant power than any other edible fruit. Used for anti-ageing, after-sun, anti-wrinkle, acne, or problem skin.
This gel can also be used as a natural after-shave.
Apply this product individually and directly as required, or before bedtime and leave overnight as a face mask.
Suitable for dry, ageing, inflamed, itchy, and sensitive skin. This product is 100% Natural and includes pure botanical actives. The fragrance of the product is made only from pure plant essential oils.” – London Organic Beauty Website
This is what I thought:
I’ve used this on a recent burn to help the healing and cool down the burning sensation on my hand (a hot oven tray + the skin on my hand… ouch!) – it really helped sooth the burn.
Given the skin is the largest organ, I am more conscious about what lotions and potions I put on it these days, so when I burnt myself, and had broken skin, I reached for the most natural thing I could find, including a cold ice compress, of course.
I have also invested in a blue light at home, and I found the combination of this gel and the light has seen big angry pimples on my nose almost disappear in 24-hours. No joke!
Ingredients:
Melaleuca alternifolia; Aloe Barbadensis; Panthenol; Copaifera officinalis; Euterpe oleraca; Carapa guaianensis; Retinyl palmitate; Caprylic/capric triglyceride; Glycerine; Benzyl alcohol; Ubiquinone; Xanthum gum; D-limonene; Salicylic acid; Sorbic acid.
Would I recommend?
Yes. Definitely! My only bit of feedback for improvement would be that the pump dispenses too much gel and I find myself using more than I need per application. If a finer pump could be used, the product would last longer.
Have I seen a noticeable difference?
Yes. It’s great for multipurposes as a first aid healing gel, and as part of your daily beauty regime to help fight spots. This really does work wonders when teamed with a blue light.
Lemongrass & Tea Tree Foot Lotion by London Organic Beauty
A welcome but underutilised (as yet) addition for the feet! The Lemongrass & Tea Tree Foot Lotion retails at £25 for 50ml.
So lets talk about feet! With pedicures off the menu during the first phase of lockdown, my poor little feet have been feeling VERY neglected. How about yours?
This is what it says on the website “A refreshing lemongrass and tea tree Foot Lotion to hydrate and moisturise. Lemongrass and tea tree help to ease muscle aches and excessive perspiration. Our Foot Lotion helps smooth and support tired feet.
Safflower and olive oils are known to help relieve poor blood circulation and cramps. Lemongrass is used for athlete’s foot, excessive perspiration and muscle aches. Tea tree is known to have antimicrobial, antiseptic, antiviral and anti-fungal properties.
Directions to Use: Apply a small amount and massage into the feet.
This product is 100% Natural and includes pure botanical actives. The fragrance of the product is made only from pure plant essential oils.” – London Organic Beauty Website
This is what I thought:
It’s a lovely lotion that gets absorbed quickly. However, I have to confess, I’ve been wearing slippers and been barefoot at home, so wearing heels has just been an act of state change rather than actually putting my feet through their paces. As such this is probably the product I have used the least so far.
But, after a good HIIT workout or a run in the morning, using this on my feet post-shower has been a very invigorating treat!
Ingredients:
Aqua, aloe barbadensis (aloe vera)*; sodium stearoyl lactylate; olea europea (olive oil)**; persea gratissima (avocado oil)**; helianthus anuus (sunflower oil)*; carthamus tinctorius (safflower oil)*; glyceryl stearate; butyrospermum parkii (shea butter)*; glycerine*; benzyl alcohol; tocopherol acetate (vitamin E); cymbopogon citratus (lemongrass)*; melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree)*; origanum marjorana (sweet marjoram)*; xanthan gum; salicylic acid; sorbic acid; citral^, citronellol^; d-limonene^; eugenol^; geraniol^; linalool^.
* Certified organic ingredients.
** Certified organic and fair trade ingredients.
^ Naturally occurring in essential oils.
Would I recommend?
Yes. It has the same lovely smell as the hand cream I use in the mornings which I love!
Have I seen a noticeable difference?
Hard to say… I can’t say I have used it enough to know if this is rich enough to tackle tough skin on one’s feet. I am very lucky that I don’t really suffer with dry skin or cracked heels. However, what I can say is this cools, freshens and makes your toes tingle in all the right ways. So if you suffer from heavy feet and agitated ankles (I do) this is a nice way to cool them down and show them some love.

BEHIND THE SCENES
As the founder of Ethical Brand Directory I am always keen to ask more questions, as a product always comes with a founder – and a story. It’s a bit easier for me to endorse London Organic Beauty with some confidence as I have the advantage that I know the founder and Director, Saumen Kar. London Organic Beauty has been a member of the Ethical Brand Directory (EBD) for almost 2 years now.
He’s already been interviewed by me in order to get a place on EBD. Below are some statements which really stayed with me and I think will help you in your decision-making if ,like me, the ethics of a brand is also a huge consideration in your purchasing choices:
What was your WHY? What inspired you to set up your business?
“We are very passionate about ensuring we keep our skin hydrated and healthy in a natural way. We realised that harmful chemicals and certain elements of the current beauty products in the market can create damage to the skin over time. We already have a company that deals with ethically produced fashion and the large target market that were interested in the organic lifestyle inspired us to contribute further to the community.”
How important is sustainability for businesses? What are you doing in your business to reduce your environmental impact?
“The aim of London Organic is to be as ethical and sustainable as possible and therefore we try and use sustainable materials. We use recycled cardboard for the packaging that has biodegradable finish which will ensure it is sustainable yet lasts as long as possible. Our products are sustainable and we only order limited stock in order to reduce waste in the long run. Other simple steps we take include that our office is run in an eco-friendly way.”

LONDON ORGANIC BEAUTY SKIN SKINCARE REVIEW SUMMARY
I really like this brand’s attention to natural and organic ingredients and plastic-free packaging AND they smell divine, not to mention ‘work’.
I cannot say at this stage if they help with ant-ageing, as I would need to use them for a longer period and see results over 1 year or more. But I can say I think I have had enough time to ascertain whether the products work for me.
The stand out products for me are the hand lotions and the Aloe Vera & Acai Gel. I will be looking at buying these for myself when my current supply runs out, as well as buying these as gifts for friends.
Areas to improve on for me would be: offering refills in store (maybe they do offer this but its not prominent on the website) and an easy recycling scheme for empty bottles. I would like a simple bag to be sent with the products that allow me to return in post to to be recycled and reused if I wasn’t able to travel in to get refills.
Let me know if you give London Organic Beauty a try!
